Ultimate pets
An ember fox, a frost hare, a tiny floating ray: ten new companions can now join your adventures. Find an Ultimate Pet Box through Wilderness hunting or non-combat skilling, then open it for one pet. Every pet has the same 10% chance.
Where can a box drop?
| Source | Chance | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| Wilderness bosses | 1 in 500 per kill | 0.2% |
| Other Wilderness monsters | 1 in 2,500 per kill | 0.04% |
| Successful non-combat skilling | 1 in 2,500 per eligible roll | 0.04% |
Wilderness hunting: the kill must qualify in dangerous Wilderness, including the Wilderness Depths. Natural Slayer superiors can qualify too. Safe areas, the Aegis Vault sanctuary, summoned creatures, followers, test dummies and staff-spawned encounters do not award these boxes. Luck, rare-drop and loot-duplication bonuses do not increase the fixed box chance.
Skilling anywhere: successful gathering and production actions can qualify, including eligible skilling inside minigames. There is one shared six-second cooldown between rolls across all skills, whether a roll succeeds or fails. Switching skills does not give an extra roll during that window. Combat skills, Prayer, Slayer, XP lamps and other XP-only rewards do not give a box roll.
Pick it up. An earned box appears on the ground for you to collect. Take it out of the Wilderness and finish combat before opening it. These are chances per eligible roll, not a guarantee after a certain number of actions.
Ten companions, ten effects
Each pet has its own shape and the scale of a normal companion. Its bonus is deliberately modest and below the corresponding fused Twinsoul effect. Only your active following pet grants its effect. Pets in your inventory, bank or house do not add bonuses, and owning more copies does not stack them.
| Pet | Effect while following | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Cinderkit Ember fox | +3% melee damage against monsters. | 10% |
| Duskfeather Crescent owl | +3% ranged damage against monsters. | 10% |
| Riftflutter Crystal moth | +3% magic damage against monsters. | 10% |
| Stormfin Floating ray | +4% accuracy against monsters with all combat styles. | 10% |
| Mossback Moss tortoise | +5% defence against monsters. This improves your defence roll; it is not 5% damage reduction. | 10% |
| Bellhart Spirit deer | 5% slower Prayer drain outside current or recent PvP combat. | 10% |
| Giltwing Jade scarab | +10% coins from ordinary monster loot, rounded down. Rare-drop chances stay the same. | 10% |
| Rimehare Frost hare | +5% non-combat skill XP, excluding Prayer and Slayer. | 10% |
| Briarhog Rose hedgehog | +5% Slayer XP. Slayer points are unchanged. | 10% |
| Rubyscale Ruby gecko | Heal 2% of actual direct-hit damage to monsters, rounded down. No healing in PvP, from secondary hits or above full health. | 10% |
The combat bonuses are for fighting monsters, not other players. Rubyscale's healing has no minimum: if 2% of a hit is less than one Hitpoint, that hit does not heal you.
Check, open or trade
- Check the contents. Right-click an Ultimate Pet Box in your inventory and choose Check. Its Collection page shows all ten pets, their effects and the 10% chance for each. Checking does not use up the box.
- Open somewhere safe. Leave the Wilderness and combat. Choose Open to exchange one box for one randomly chosen pet.
- Keep every copy. A repeat pet is another physical pet copy. You can keep it or trade it; owning a pet does not remove it from the box's possible rewards.
Both boxes and pets are tradeable with other players and through the Exchange. NPC merchants do not buy them. Only the pet actually following you applies its effect.
If you already have a follower, your new pet is placed in your inventory or bank. If the game cannot safely make room for any of the ten possible rewards, the box stays closed.
Find the drop in Examine
Examine an eligible Wilderness monster or boss to open its drop table. The Ultimate Pet Box row shows the correct chance and explains the Wilderness conditions. When the same species also lives in a safe area, the shared page still shows the row, but a safe-area kill does not qualify.
The box is an optional discovery on these pages. Existing page-completion requirements, completion gifts and Atlas mark values are unchanged. An earned monster box is recorded on that monster's page; skilling finds and traded boxes do not fill a monster's discovery.
The separate Ultimate Pet Box page records pets you find when opening boxes, with the number opened and each reward's chance.
